"Spinning Out" 2021
After ending a relationship, I found myself alone in a new city, Seattle, with a lot of time and scattered thoughts. I made art as a way to process my thoughts and feelings on paper. For 31 days, I created small sketches using a limited palette that reminded me of happier times--summer, sunshine in Los Angeles, and bright colors. At the end of that exercise, I chose a two sketches that resonated with me the most to create into larger pieces.
"Spinning Out" is a reflection of the sense of loss and untethered-ness, I felt immediately after my breakup.
